The most powerful waterfall in the world. The highest, largest and most powerful waterfalls in the world

It is probably difficult to find a person who is completely indifferent to the beauty of water falling from a great height. The multi-ton power of such a stream fascinates, the play of splashes and light delights with dynamism. Among the amazing natural phenomena, a special place was occupied by the most beautiful waterfalls in the world. To their thunderous peals like a magnet attracted a person from ancient times. Before this natural miracle, the veil of illusions that man is the king of nature disappears.

In this article, we present five of the most beautiful waterfalls peace. We do not claim that they are not more beautiful and majestic. On every continent, in almost every country in the world, there are these amazing natural monuments. Perhaps not so majestic and powerful, but always amazingly beautiful. Therefore, describing the most beautiful waterfalls in the world, the list can be increased many times over.

The most famous waterfalls in the world

Each waterfall is an impressive sight, however, there are such incredible complexes in the world that you can admire all day long. In our article, we will present the following:

  1. Angel (Venezuela).
  2. Niagara Falls(USA).
  3. Victoria (Zimbabwe).
  4. Iguazu (Argentina/Brazil).
  5. Yosemite Falls (USA).

Waterfalls of the world (the most beautiful and famous): Angel

We will begin our short review with on our planet. He is in South America(Venezuela). The name of this natural miracle is translated as "angel's jump". You can see this roaring water stream, breaking down from a height that exceeds the height of any skyscraper, in Canaima National Park.

Water with a deafening roar rushes down, forming a semblance of fog. No one can name the exact height of this Venezuelan attraction yet. According to approximate data, it ranges from 978 to 1054 meters.

The most beautiful waterfalls in the world are not always accessible to tourists. An example of this is Angel. Approach a kilometer-long sheer wall, which is very tightly blocked by thick a tropical forest, intertwined with thickets of vines and shrubs, is extremely difficult. It is for this reason that surveyors, trying to measure the height of this waterfall, cut their way with axes. It took them 20 days to cover 35 km.

Today, everyone who wants to see this natural wonder during the rainy season, which lasts from May to November, must get to it by boat within 5 hours. Angel is fed only by rain, so we do not recommend trying to get to it during the dry season. You will be disappointed when you see a very small stream instead of a powerful water wall.

Niagara Falls

Perhaps someone will disagree, but in our opinion, this is the most beautiful waterfall in the world. Its name is known even to schoolchildren. It is located on the river of the same name, at the border of two states: Ontario and New York, which are located in Canada and the USA.

Scientists have noticed an amazing fact - the greatest waterfalls (in width), as a rule, are located on the border of two (and sometimes three) countries. This is not an accident - water masses stretching for a huge width are impenetrable natural boundaries, along which official borders between states eventually appeared.

Niagara Falls is by far the most popular among tourists due to its accessibility. They are attracted here by the extraordinary, almost untouched nature. The general complex consists of several waterfalls. Their height is over 53 meters. The water jets of this giant fall at a speed of 3 million l / s. The nearest settlement is the city of Buffalo.

To avoid a huge crowd of tourists, come to these wonderful places better in autumn or in the spring. This will allow you to enjoy the incredible beauty and grandeur of the waterfall.

Victoria

The top of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world continues in our article. It is one of the highest on our planet. In addition, he is known for the fact that he very harmoniously divides Zambia and Zimbabwe. It was discovered by a Scot in 1865.

Four years before the discovery of this object, Livingston already knew about the existence of this waterfall. The explorer intended, with the help of such amazing beauty, to turn dense Africa into a center of attraction for travelers from all over the world.

On the African continent Victoria is the highest waterfall. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that reaching two kilometers in width, it has a height of 120 meters. Such grandiose cascades are no longer on our planet. It is located on full-flowing water. At the peak of the inflow of water, it passes an average of eight thousand cubic meters per second.

The locals call this amazing cascade "thundering smoke", meaning the volume of fog that rises to a height of more than 400 meters, as well as the deafening noise that can be heard for tens of kilometers. And the spray flying upwards in a huge column is visible for 50 kilometers. They almost always sparkle with a rainbow. If you want to experience the most incredible sensations, you should stand at the foot of this waterfall at least once.

Iguazu

The most beautiful waterfalls in the world are famous not only for their powerful water flows, but also for their magnificent natural panoramas. Iguazu is located on the border of Brazil and Argentina. Objectively, it is considered the most picturesque in the world. In addition, it occupies a leading position in terms of fullness.

Merging together, 275 cascades form a grandiose complex with a displacement of over 1700 cubic meters per second. Its height is 80 meters, and the width at the base is 4 kilometers. For Europeans, the waterfall was discovered in the 16th century by conquistadors from Spain. The river on which it is located winds, flows, crossing the mainland in westbound for 1500 kilometers, and then breaks off with a vault of waterfalls, which at the drain resemble a crescent in shape.

The rumble of Iguazu can be heard for several kilometers. The waterfall is the pride of Argentines and Brazilians. Every year, tens of thousands of travelers come here to see this splendor with their own eyes. Due to the existing relations between Argentina and Brazil, the states have entered into original agreements: the Brazilians are monopolists for helicopter tours, and the Argentines are responsible for boat trips.

Yosemite Falls

Describing the most beautiful waterfalls in the world, one cannot fail to mention this cascade. The waterfall located in Yosemite Park is called the Horsetail. Its height reaches 740 meters. In February, Yosemite Falls becomes "fiery lava" for a few days.

Hundreds of thousands of tourists flock to Yosemite Park at this time to enjoy the beauty of the fiery miracle. The secret of this phenomenon is explained by the special arrangement of the rays of the sun. Getting to the waterfall at a strictly defined angle, they illuminate the powerful water stream in an amazing way.

At first, it becomes yellowish-orange, and gradually, when the sun sets, the waterfall turns into a rich fiery color. Everyone who observes this natural miracle has the impression that red-hot lava flows out of the rock. It is a pity that even with cloudless and clear weather, such a glow lasts only a few minutes.

The biggest waterfall in Russia October 11th, 2016

A seemingly simple and ordinary post about, and all because we know little of the sights of our country, attracted a lot of attention. Sometimes you have to be surprised. Let's continue to explore native spaces.

Talnikovy waterfall is the largest in Russia. The waterfall is located on the Putorana Plateau (Central Siberian Plateau) in the Putoransky Reserve, on Lake Dyupkun, on its left bank, between the mouths of the 1st Gagarya and 2nd Gagarya rivers.

Their grandeur fascinates tourists, and their power makes them admire. "Falling water" has long attracted not only humans, but also animals. For example, with their thunderous peals, waterfalls for tens of kilometers serve as a guide for birds during migrations.

Nature has given man many miracles that you can look at endlessly. The most beautiful mountains, where meadows with emerald green grass spread in the lower reaches, and the tops are covered with majestic caps of snow.

Rivers, including mountain ones, which, depending on the season, can soothe with their tranquility in dry, warm weather or cause involuntary respect, bordering even on some fear of the power of a stream of water that blows everything in its path during the flood period. But the most fascinating sight is, undoubtedly, the waterfalls…

A very curious pattern, all large-width waterfalls on earth are located on the border of two or more states. Apparently, this is not accidental. After all, wide waterfalls are insurmountable natural boundaries, near which borders were established earlier.

There are whole clusters of such "water diamonds" on the planet. For example, in the Caucasus, in the Teberdinsky Reserve, in the gorge of the Salyngan River, there is a valley of "Thirty Waterfalls". And in Japan, in a park on the island of Honshu, a hundred waterfalls crash into the Osunidani Valley. Norway is called the Land of Waterfalls. And few people know that a small kingdom in the mountains of Lesotho in South Africa in Africa is an intricacies of 3 thousand waterfalls.

Well, what is the largest waterfall in Russia. On the territory of Russia, however, there are not so many of them. And the more useful it will be for tourists who are interested in the beauties of their native nature to visit the largest waterfall in our country - Talnikovy. We can definitely say that in our country and throughout Asia the highest is the Talnikovy waterfall. Almost no one knows that it is located in the Putoransky Reserve in the Central Siberian Plateau in Taimyr. But almost everyone knows that this water cascade is considered the most beautiful in Russia.

What is most interesting is that the waterfall is indeed the largest, but for quite a long time its height could not be measured. Furthermore - long time information about him, indicated in encyclopedic sources, did not correspond to the truth, since they were taken from the diaries of the researcher Babitsky, who studied the waterfall that flows into the river of the same name (that is, it should have been called Talnikovsky).

And the Talnikovy waterfall itself is located at a decent distance from this river - it originates on Mount Trapeze in the Central Siberian Plateau. At least, this is how its discoverer Afanasiev described it in his notes. There are still disputes about the height of the Talnikovy waterfall, different researchers give different numbers: they range from 482 to 700 m.

For quite a long time, this waterfall was generally one of those natural objects that are called “mythical” - there was a description, and two of them, which caused confusion, but there was not a single photograph. Strictly speaking, there are still no photographs of the waterfall in its full-flowing state, there are only photos provided by Mikhail Afanasiev, taken during the period when the waterfall dries up, that is, in fact, this is just a photo of a crevice. Perhaps it was this mystery that became the main reason why this waterfall became one of the few natural objects that have their own website, which collects all the information on it.

Of course, this halo of mystery has its own attraction - many would like to see with their own eyes something whose existence has been in doubt for so long. Therefore, entire expeditions are regularly sent in search of the Talnikov waterfall. If any of the readers come up with the idea to join such an expedition or organize their own, we will immediately warn you - this, according to Afanasiev, makes sense only in July and August, all other months the stream either dries up due to drought or freezes from Taimyr cold. However, even if it fails, there is always something to see in Taimyr.

California's Yosemite Falls in the eponymous valley of the national park is the highest in America (739 m). The foothills of steep cliffs are dotted with bright and juicy meadow grass. And above, ice crystals sparkle with a silver sheen.

Many daredevils try to get close to the very body of the thundering giant. Often such an undertaking ends with the call of rescuers, because the soil in these places is very slippery. The insidiousness of the deity does not end there. Fading in dry summers and autumns, the waterfall attracts conquerors of rocks. Climbers climb steep surfaces with great enthusiasm. And an unexpected thunderstorm easily washes away the "troublemakers" of the lord.

The name of the waterfall was given Indian tribes. It means "Great Grizzly". This was the name of the leader who managed to kill an incredibly large animal in order to feed his relatives.

4. Looking for something new (Gokta)

The world is truly full of surprises. In the north-east of Peru, quite recently (2005), a scientific expedition discovered the hitherto unknown Gokta waterfall. Narrow, but imposing, it majestically descends in two steps from the middle of the expanses of the selva. The impressive height (771 m) was hidden by the density of the walls of the dense peaks.

They say that the locals were afraid to reveal the secret of its existence. They believe that they will bring upon themselves the curse of the siren living in those places, jealously guarding gold. Her assistant is a gigantic one that destroys curious people who have encroached on their grace. However, the authorities have already made a decision to build a strong tourist infrastructure around the sensational natural treasure.

3. In the depths of the forests (Three sisters)

Peru is just a godsend in terms of the number of amazing objects. The Three Sisters waterfall was named after the photographers who found it. The girls were sisters. By the will of fate, they arrived in remote places to photograph a completely different waterfall - Katarata (a little over 200 m in height). And they found his older brother 914 m tall.

According to another version, the name was obtained by the presence of three amazing cascades. Two branching tiers, divided into several more thin streams before rushing to the bottom. Iridescent beams glow in a myriad of splashes, especially in sunny weather. A dense forest grows around with high archaic ones, giving a tangible coolness in moments of heat. It is his pictures that can often be seen on the screensavers of computer monitors.

2. African Pride (Tugela)

Natal National Park (South Africa) is famous for many attractions. A special honor was given to the Tugela waterfall - one of the highest (948 m). Crushingly rushing, the waters are separated into 5 separate branches. This gives a picturesque view of the area, immersing observers in the world of a winter fairy tale.

You can see the sight from special sites. It is convenient to get to them by graceful suspension bridges. And the descent to the foot will take several hours and will require more caution. But this is only in the hands of adventurers. By the way, you can't get lost. There are many signs on the territory explaining the route.

1. Unmatched (Venezuelan Angel)

The Venezuelan Angel is recognized as the most grandiose of the existing ones. Its height fluctuates between 979-1054 m. Starting from the flat Devil's Mountain, lit up in films about the lost world, it inimitably majestically carries turbulent streams down. The rumble from the movement of the elements spreads through the surrounding area. From the height of the helicopter you can see the iridescent surroundings of the royal waters.

Brave travelers prefer to swim up to the foot in light canoes, risking capsizing from the power of surface vibrations of the seething elements. Other daredevils make their way through the jungle for 3 km in order to comprehend the full salt of the difficulties they have passed when they reach their goal. A single route still does not exist.

The giant was discovered by Jimmy Angel (a pilot reconnaissance of the location of gold reserves) back in 1935. Crashed during his second arrival here, the brave scout made a difficult journey with his companions, getting out after the accident. And the long-suffering aircraft stood in the swamps for more than 30 years. He was later rescued by helicopters. Now the legendary apparatus is in the museum.

These were the Top 11 largest waterfalls in the world.
